Leadership

"There are three qualities necessary for effective leadership:  (1) knowing how to work with people; (2) having a practical process for solving problems; and most important of all, considering our rapidly changing times, (3) vision."

At Association Resources, leadership is more than maintaining rosters and attending meetings.  We see the leadership role from a 360 degree view. Our staff works with association leaders to unleash the creative genius and talents of association volunteers on solutions that bring programs to higher levels. By taking a global view of leadership, we can assess past and present leaders to gain a clearer vision of the qualities that will characterize future leaders.

We think of our clients' boards as our partners.  Because our staff oversees all the details, boards can focus on their associations' strategic initiatives and leave the day-to-day operations to us.  As proponents of strategic planning, we work with boards to define what financial, staff, and volunteer resources will be needed to accomplish our clients' objectives.

Our view extends beyond the leadership of an association to its volunteers.  The AR staff works closely with committees and task forces.  We maintain a database of all volunteers which expedites communication between boards and volunteers. These databases tell us which members are interested in getting involved which, in turn, allows us to assign them to committees as quickly as possible.

If you're looking for a broader view of things, call us and we'll talk.

AR Driving Directions
Leadership
For years our executive director urged us to develop a strategic plan. We finally listened, hired a facilitator, and teamed up for the good of the association. Now we have a valuable plan and direction.

Attending the Chief Staff/Chief Elected Officer symposium sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives is on AES tradition. AR encouraged us to make the investment and it has paid dividends to strengthening our partnership. I highly recommend it to all associations and their leadership.
